NATURA SILENTIUM

From the moment I pointed my lens through the obscurity of the fog in the winter seascape of Florida I was captured by the mysterious experiences of the natural world.  It has held me ever since:  the power of the dreamlike state of nature in its disconnection from reality where imagination freely wanders beyond the mundane.

In using the meniscus lens to extenuate the effect of unreal I am looking for images that are connected with the pictorial aesthetic and its symbolical context.  The grandeur and the magical silence of Nature becomes a symbol of absolute truth, the powerful manifestation of eternity where people, when included in the frame, are only the voiceless participants suspended in the silent moment.

The final work on each print is important to me – each final image is suspended in wax to protect the fragility of the translucent paper and the timeless, ephemeral moment of reality.
