Time Held Fast

This project is inspired by my love of negatives and informed by the history of the photographic process.
I was always fascinated with negatives as the medium that holds the tangible moment of time when the photograph was shot, the special intimacy - between the image and the photographer, between the camera and time. For me, the negative is beautiful and powerful on its own.
In the digital era, when this state of wonder is gone, the question remains - shall the negative be seen as an outdated technical means and soon forgotten or viewed and explored perhaps as a unique evidence of time...
It was important to me to use negatives that I was not related to - questioning the places and people held fast in time, roaming through the obscurity of the inverted imagery and inventing the narrative story of someone's life.

All original negatives are reshot against my everyday surrounding engaging the dialog between past and present.
